Google Message Continuity - Exchange Migration tool

Google's Postini Services is a hosted continuity solution for your on-premise email server. Google promises to ensure rapid email failover in the event of a server outage with complete and constant email replication; through Gmail. GMC is another option for the increased mobility and accessibility  of critical data.

Google seems to have launced an all out attack on Microsoft's hitherto personal niche, of enterprise-hosted email services, following the increasingly successful adoption of Gmail; as the email client of choice. With a claim of ten-fold reliability over in-house hosted Microsoft exchange systems, coupled with low cost-per-head and industry leading security architecture, 'Google Message Continuity' (GMC) is a concrete step in the right direction and should soon become the ultimate M$ Exchange migration tool.

Mobile Blogging

Mobile blogging is a growing phenomenon in the web 2.0 world. An increasing number of blogging enthusiasts are opting to blog using their mobile devices; The mobile phone (internet enabled) in particular offers an easily accessible (omnipresent) interface for instantaneous, real-time blog updates.

Weblog

Blogging started off as a way of maintaining a journal/log of specific activities, organised in reverse chronological order, directly viewable on a web-page (site); and was consequently refered to as weblogging. Technological and behavioural evolution have allowed it to morph into its current state; known as blogging. The changing nature of services and products (facebook, twitter... ) available today have continually blurred the lines; with regard to the original idea of a blog. 

Mobile Operating Systems

A mobile operating system, also known as a mobile OS, a mobile platform, or a handheld operating system, is the operating system that controls a mobile device or information appliance—similar in principle to an operating system such as Windows, Mac OS, or Linux that controls a desktop computer or laptop. However, they are currently somewhat simpler, and deal more with the wireless versions of broadband and local connectivity, mobile multimedia formats, and different input methods.

Typical examples of devices running a mobile operating system are smartphones, personal digital assistants (PDAs), tablet computers and information appliances, or what are sometimes referred to as smart devices, which may also include embedded systems, or other mobile devices and wireless devices. Operating systems that can be found on smartphones like Nokia's Symbian OS,Apple's iOS, RIM's BlackBerry OS, Microsoft's Windows Phone OS, Linux, Palm WebOS, Google's Android, Samsung's Bada (operating system) and Nokia's Maemo. Android, Bada, WebOS and Maemo are in turn built on top of Linux, and the iPhone OS is derived from the BSD and NeXTSTEP operating systems, which all are related to UNIX.

Currently available services include, (SMS based)txt msg banking, the use of specialised applications to facilitate bill payments & account transfers and account browsing features (through a web browser)  like account(s) mini-statement, balance inquiry, alters & triggers, card manegement, to mention but afew.

The Changing Mobile World

Right from the beginning communication has always been directed towards a utopia-like easy to use, ubiquitous and intuitive mode of interaction. Graham Bell was nearly committed to psychiatric care for suggesting that he had managed to send and receive an audio message across the ocean through thin-air, using radio waves.

While that may have seemed impossible to his contemporaries, today's communications have evolved from the archaic (imagine what Bell would have to say about that) operator managed inconveniences, into the Private Automated Branch eXchange (PABX), PSTN and now VoIP assisted communications.
